Don Stoutt was a co-founder of the Orillia Terriers, one of the top Sr. A franchises in the country at a time when the level of play in the league wasn’t far behind the NHL.

He was president of the team for three seasons – including the Allan Cup title-winning year in 1973. Stoutt helped recruit players, helped find sponsors and led a hard-working group of volunteers that were the backbone of the club’s off-ice efforts.

It was those efforts that helped Orillia “compete with the big dogs” of the day, he would say, with pride.

Stoutt also started the Kinsmen Club of Orillia Hockey School. That school, held annually at Brian Orser Arena, became a staple of winters in Orillia and attracted the who’s who of hockey as instructors over the years.

Stoutt is a broker at Re/Max Realty.
