Walter Henry is one of Canada’s great amateur boxers. “Unbeatable may be the best word to describe Henry. His lightning-quick left hook seemed to come out of nowhere, surprising opponents the world over in arenas big and small, where he met and became lifelong friends with famous fighters like Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and George Chuval” quote from Packet&Times

Walter was born in Hong Kong but it was as a boy in Ireland that he learned to box, later immigrating to Canada with his family they settled in Orillia. In 1958 Henry represented Canada in the British Empire Games, he fought in the Olympics in Tokyo in 1964 and in Mexico City in 1968. He was a judge in the 1976 Olympics. In 1967, he was the first Canadian ever to win a medal in boxing at the Pan American Games held in Winnipeg.
